Eddie May Obituary

Eddie Jim (Pistol) May, age 58 passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at his home in Idabel, OK.
Pistol was born November 11th, 1960, in Idabel, Oklahoma,  to Eddie and Shelba May. He made his presence felt soon afterward. There was no going to sleep without being pushed for 30 minutes in an old fashioned bassinet.  When he started school, he remained Pistol, because  he was one.  His studies took a backseat to having fun. He could play around and then ace a test. But soon he got involved in basketball where the Elementary School had a basketball team.  He and five other boys were a team going undefeated for eight years into  junior high  I don't remember them all but Fred Romine and Billy Jack Hobbs were two of them. They all played basketball through high school,
One of the good memories..

Pistol followed his dad into the construction field. He did this as long as he lived.
He was a devout Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Haworth. He couldn't carry a tune but you would find him many Sundays leading singing.  He always went by every Sunday and picked up his MeMa Roberson as long as she lived.
Like many of us, when heartaches come we don't turn to the one who could help, but lose our way.  His way was a rocky road. He never quit loving his friends and spoke of them often. If a friend needed help financially, they knew they could count on him. He was frequently found doing the wrong things, which you knew if you knew him.

His grandparents got his attention as long  as they lived.  They loved him dearly and he was devoted to his Mema and Pepa Roberson.
In the last year of his life, he became a very troubled soul, but still talked to me about God.
He would often say God looks upon the heart and he knows mine and He will take care of me.
Pistol is survived by two sons, Brandon Edward May of Baton Rouge, LA and Benny Joe May of Maine, his mother, Shelba May of Dallas, TX; a sister, Teresa Landon and her husband, Tim Landon of Dallas, TX; his uncle, Jimmy Roberson and wife, Muriel of Idabel, OK; a very special friend, Sue John of Idabel, OK. Sue and her grandchildren, Jefferson and Jorja were bright shining lights in Pistol's life.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Eddie May, beloved Uncle Benny, his grandparents, Jim and Mildred Roberson and Edna May.
Per Pistol's request no services will be held.
