Alene Wicker, age 95 of Idabel passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Texarkana, TX. She was born in the Redland Community, OK on May 16, 1930 the daughter of Clarence Roy Bates and Fannie Taylor Bates. Alene married the love of her life, AJ "Buddy" Wicker on March 13, 1948 in DeQueen, AR and they spent a wonderful 66 years together until his passing in 2014.
Alene was a homemaker. She was very proud of the Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education she received from Southeastern Oklahoma State University when she was 57 years old. Alene worked for Little Dixie as a Self Help Housing Program Secretary and that was after her first career which was as a beautician for 17 years.
Alene was a dedicated member of the Idabel First United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She felt her most important job in life was to raise her children to know and love the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buddy Wicker; brothers, Rev. Chuck Bates and Josie, John Bates and Jean and Russell Bates; and her sister, Juanita Bates.
Alene leaves to cherish her memory; sons and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Bonnie Wicker of Brighton, TN and Frank Wicker and Jaimee of Idabel, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Bob Stiles of Broken Bow, OK; grandchildren, Kary Kee, Walt Wicker and Lisa, Adam Wicker and Nicol, Emilee Wicker and Dylan, Jared Wicker and Olivia, Will Stiles and Megan, Russell Stiles and Mackensey, Caleb Stiles and Mary, Luke Dodds and Keisha and Paulette Scarberry and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Karson, Will, Addison, Livi, Savilla, Arkyn, Everly, Beckett, Sage, Isaiah, Haiven and Hayes; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, October 27, 2025 at the White Family Chapel. Interment to follow at the Denison Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at the funeral home.
