Allen Lane Obituary

Allen Edward Lane was born in Idabel, OK, on February 17, 1953 to Lee and Clara Ford Lane.

He was a graduate of Haworth High School in 1971.

Allen worked for the McCurtain Gazette from 1970 – 1974, taking rodeo, football, baseball, and other sports photos. He and David Mowdy worked as a team; David writing the stories, Allen taking the photos. Photography was a love of his, and he enjoyed taking photos of his son participating in sports.

He moved to the Dallas area in 1977 and worked in construction building custom homes and apartments. Allen co-owned a business with his son Michael for several years.

Allen was an avid OU Sooners fan. He and his daughter Amanda had a friendly rivalry over this as she is a Texas Longhorns fan. As was Allen’s son.

Allen was also a master gardener who loved getting his hands dirty and enjoying the fruits of his labor.

He met the love of his life in April of 2014. Allen and Dana Wilson McKinney married in August of that year, and he moved back to Oklahoma. They just celebrated their 10th anniversary last month. Their families came together beautifully to form one amazing extended family.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Leola Pearl Lane, his son Michael Lynn Lane, and his niece Wendy Lyn Murchison.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of the home, his daughter Amanda Lane Adams and husband Lynn of  Mineola, TX, his daughter Karilyn Lane and fiancé Ashton Poarch of Venus, TX, his stepson Jordan Wilson of Idabel, OK, stepson Jacob McKinney and wife Kaylee of Idabel, OK, stepson Jesse McKinney of Idabel, OK, his sister Jewel Lane Jackson and husband Jerry of Cleveland, TX, his sister Iris Lane of Rosston, AR, and his nephew Weslee Murchison of Rosston, AR. He also left an amazing legacy in his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Aidan (Lane), J.C. (Knucklehead), Landon, Noah, Jakota (Cochise), Cooper, Preston, and Macie.
