Arlette (Desprez) Bushers

Arlette Bushers, age 99 passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at her home in Idabel, OK. She was born on November 16, 1922, in Paris France, the daughter of Ernest Noel Desprez and Antonia Paulette Merle Desprez.

Arlette met James Henry Bushers during WWII in Paris. After the Americans liberated France, they married in 1945.  They welcomed their first child, Jim, in May, 1946.   Once the war ended, it it was time for James to move his new family home. Coming to America by ship, they arrived in New York in November, 1946, and then to their destination of Idabel, Oklahoma, where they would make their lifelong home. Their union would then welcome three additional children, Denise, Sonia and Dee.

Arlette worked with her husband at the First Credit Corporation.  She later became part owner and operator of Idabel Pawn until she retired and worked part time for Gary Moran at Edward D.  Jones & Co.

Arlette was a faithful and founding member of the St Francis de sales Catholic Church and her faith was very important to her. A very intelligent, business minded Lady that always demonstrated a great deal of class. She was very active and could be seen walking laps at the hospital until very recently. Her friends enjoyed visiting with her and listening to her many life stories.  She was a master seamstress making tailored clothing for herself, family and home furnishings. She took joy in her vegetable and flower gardening.

Arlette was very proud of her family and was loved and will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James H Bushers Sr.; a brother, Jacques Desprez; and an infant grandson, Baby Bushers.

Arlette is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Jim and Charla Bushers and Dee Bushers all of Idabel, OK; daughters, Sonia Thompson of Idabel, OK and Denise Clark of Purcell, OK; grandchildren, David Love, Paulette Kendrick, Jason Bushers, Jaimee Wicker, Elizabeth Monks, Carey Thompson, Letha Thompson- Cooke, Lisa Robertson, Brad Clark and Laura Smith; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, November 22, 2021 at the funeral home with a  rosary service following.   

The Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Idabel, OK.  Interment will follow at the Denison Cemetery.
