Betty Ruth Ramsey, age 80 passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at her home in Idabel, OK. She was born on August 28, 1941 in Sapulpa, OK, the daughter of William Riley Tidmore and Ruth Inez Faulkner Tidmore.
Betty was a woman of many talents. She worked many jobs and did not like being told what she could not do. She was a carpenter, welder, brick layer, hay baler, sign maker, musician, teacher and artist. She worked in the Court Clerk's office for 12 years prior to going back to college. After she received her bachelor's degree, she taught art at the Idabel Middle School. During that time, she received her Master's Degree in Education.
After retirement, she started traveling with the Museum of Red River and saw 21 different countries. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, singing in the choir at the Methodist Church in Idabel, OK and helping to provide ministry through music for the local nursing homes.
Betty Ramsey was a very talented artist and musician that enjoyed life to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester Ramsey; infant son, Anthony Lester; sisters, Martha Inez Tidmore, Glenda Ann Tidmore and her brother, Jimmy Dale Tidmore.
Betty is survived by her son, Wayne Provence and Sylvia of Valliant, OK; daughter, Robin Adams and Kurt of Hochatown, OK; grandchildren, Kerrie Beene and Allen, Cody Wood and Nikki, Scooter Provence and Jessica, Kasha Butler and Ryan, Sydney Provence, Joey Adams and Kyler Adams and Marisa; great-grandchildren; Raelyn Beene, Rayner Beene, Mikayia Wood, William Provence, Jett Provence and Lennox Butler; brothers, Billy Ray Tidmore of Franklin, TN and William Eugene “BooG” Tidmore of Seminole, OK; sister, June Bean of Valliant, OK; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and former students.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Idabel, OK with Rev. Mark Polson officiating. Interment will follow at the Valliant Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the funeral home.
Memorials can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Society or the Idabel First United Methodist Church.
