Billy Hill Obituary

Mister Billy Wayne Hill, 88 of Goodwater, OK passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at his home with family by his side.

Bill was born July 17, 1935 in Harlington, TX to Luther Edward and Ina Leona (Tapley) Hill. He lived in Goodwater area most of his life.

February 11, 1953 in the Jadie Community, Bill married the love of his life, Della Jean Shelton. Soon after they were wed, Bill went to work for Boeing Aircraft as an electrician, where he travelled from Washington to Maine overhauling motors on 747 airplanes until 1961. Bill then took a job at the Broken Bow Craig Plant so he and Della could build their forever home and raise their children. He worked at Craig plant until 1981 when it was closed down and he was transferred to the Valliant paper mill where he worked the remainder of his career until retirement in 1997.

When Bill wasn’t busy at work, he was in his shop tinkering with an old lawn mower, car motors, or something like that. Bill was an active member of Redland Church of Christ where he attended all of his life until his health wouldn’t let him a few years ago. He also was a big part of the Goodwater Community where he helped restore the old Midway School House into the Goodwater Community Building that is still there today. Bill donated countless hours to fish fries, pie walks and spook trails. He also took care of the Philadelphia Cemetery grounds for many years.

Bill was a busy man, but he always had time for the most important people in his life, his kids and grandkids. Maybe we were catching crappie on yoyo’s at Hugo Lake, or running trotlines for monster catfish on Little River or perhaps scouting out a big buck in Caney Bottoms or taking us all to Broken Bow Lake to tube and ski. There were all those family vacations to Yellowstone, Royal Gorge and riding mules to the bottom of Grand Canyon and cruising miles of open sea to a beautiful place with his niece, Carolyn, cruising buddy, Doug and many family members. Bill always made sure his family was all involved. He will be forever loved and missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Ina Hill; wife, Della Shelton Hill; brothers, James Hill, JW Hill, Larry Hill; son-in-law, Louis Santiago and grandson-in-law, Richie Segraves.

Billy is survived by his children, Shirley Pogue and Dick of Goodwater Community, OK, Bobby Hill and Pam of Goodwater Community, OK, Gary Hill and Pam of Redland Community, OK, Debra Hill Santiago of Goodwater Community, OK; grandchildren, Billy Pogue and Emily, Karen Segraves, Chyan Parson and Curtis, Shala Irvan and Vince, Josh Bowline, Seth Hill, Eddie Rodgers and Vickey, Heather Hill; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Philadelphia Cemetery with Dick Pogue officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, April 19, 2024 at the funeral home.
