Longtime Idabel resident, Bobby Gene Jackson Sr, 82, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at McCurtain Memorial Hospital.
The son of Aaron L. and Oleta M. (Winningham) Jackson, Bobby was born on March 5, 1938 in Finley, Oklahoma. He was a 1955 graduate of Clayton High School. After working a couple of years, he joined the United States Navy. Bobby settled in California after leaving the Navy where he learned the trade of repairing appliances. In 1971, he relocated to Idabel where he continued to repair appliances at City Appliance. Bobby and Barbara Smalling were united in marriage on February 22, 1991 in Texarkana, Arkansas. After his retirement, he continued working as a Landlord owning several properties throughout Idabel. He enjoyed bass fishing when he wasn’t working.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Aaron Jackson and one brother, Danny Jackson.
He leaves to honor his life, his wife, Barbara, of the home; two sons, Bobby Jackson Jr of Idabel, Doug Jackson and wife, Valerie, of Hanford CA; one daughter, Angela Hilton and her husband, Jon Christopher of Broken Bow, OK; two brothers, A.L Jr Jackson and his wife, Debra, Larry Jackson all of Nashoba, OK; two sisters, Betty Boatright and her husband, Allen, of Krebbs, OK, Mary Jo Savage and her husband, J.L., of Finley, OK; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Friday at the White Family Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Denison Cemetery. Jimmy Smalling will officiate.
