Cecil J. Atnip, age 95, passed away on September 11, 2024 at Pushmataha Hospital in Antlers, OK. He was born on July 1, 1929, to William and Mae Atnip. Cecil married the love of his life, Sue Atnip on December 7, 1950 in Yuma, AZ.
Cecil dedicated much of his life to service, both as a member of the United States Marine Corps and as a Minister of the Gospel. His military career, spanning twenty-two years, was distinguished by his earning a Purple Heart, and he retired with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.
After his military service, Cecil continued to serve his community as a Minister of the Gospel. For forty years, he pastored several Church of God congregations, including the Moon Church of God, where he eventually retired. Cecil was known for his deep faith and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life through his ministry.
Cecil was beloved by his family and his community, cherished for his dedication to service and his compassionate spirit. His legacy of faith, courage, and community will be remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Little and grandson, Troy Foeppel.
Cecil leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sue Atnip of the home; daughters, Cecilia Combest and Pat of Cottage Grove, OR, Debra Marallo and Nickey of Antlers, OK, Patti Flowers and Sam of Broken Bow, OK; son, John Atnip and SonHe of Clearfield, UT; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Grace Assembly Church in Idabel, OK with Bro. Gary Mitchell and Bro. Kyle Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at Tom Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the funeral home.
