Cleland Louis Willis, age 73 passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024 at his home in Idabel, OK. He was born on July 5, 1950 in Rufe, OK, the son of Dixon and Melba Willis.

Cleland graduated from Wright City High School in May of 1968. After high school, he studied for one year at Okmulgee Tech. He worked for Kellwood Company in Idabel, OK for 16 years, then Redkap Industries in Clarksville, TX for 14 years. Before retiring in 2014, Cleland worked as maintenance manager for the Choctaw Nation for 10 years.

Cleland and Sue were married April 16, 1976. They resided in Idabel, OK 47 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and “uncle”. His hobbies included doing yard work, grilling, watching sports and watching his grandchildren grow. Cleland also loved gospel singing and Choctaw hymns.

His calling became known to him when he became a worship leader in the local Presbyterian Churches. He then served as lay preacher, lay pastor and ordained elder, commissioned by Eastern Oklahoma Presbytery until his passing. He preached the salvation of Jesus Christ, the only way to God. His testimony of life was to live as a Christian man and that was his highest priority.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dixon and Melba Willis; brother, Emerson Willis; brother-in-law, Virgil Bohanan.

Cleland is survived by his wife, Sue Willis of the home; sons, Brad Willis and wife, Amber of Broken Bow, OK, Derek “Dewey” Willis of Idabel, OK; daughter, Kara Caskey and husband, Chris of Tecumseh, OK; sisters, Carolyn Bohanan of Wright City, OK, Linda Harrison and husband, Gary of Tulsa, OK; six grandchildren, Matthew Caskey, Aaron Caskey, Kai Caskey, Elijah Caskey, Mikaela Willis, Quinn Willis, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and church family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at White Family Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Oka Achukma Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Broken Bow, OK.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, January 19, 2024 at the funeral home.
