Dan Baxter

Dan Baxter, age 76 of Haworth, was born to Michael and Bess (Mathews) Baxter on July 24, 1949 in Davenport, IA. He passed from this life on January 6, 2026 at his home in Haworth surrounded by his family.

He was a retired pipeline welder and a member of Pipeliners Local 798. Family was everything to him and he took care of their every need. Dan was a hard worker, if he wasn’t on a pipeline job, he was working on the home place. He loved to fish and kept the freezer full with crappie. He helped anyone who needed it. He taught his sons and several boys how to weld from a makeshift welding school that he had set up at his home. He was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Haworth.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mike Baxter, his brothers, Jim Baxter and Bruce Baxter and his stepfather, Bobby Potts.

Dan left to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years, Fran, of the home; his sons, Heath and wife, Carey Thompson Baxter, Cameron Baxter of Broken Bow, OK; granddaughter, and the light of his life, Cafara Creed Baxter of Atlanta, TX; his mother, Bess Potts; sisters, Lila Wilkerson of Haworth, OK and Thorn Potts of Haworth, OK; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the White Family Funeral Chapel with Bill Weeks officiating. Interment will follow at Redland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 9, 2026 at the funeral home.
