Doris Holley Obituary

Doris Lorene Holley, age 101 of Idabel, OK passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Idabel. She was born on April 14, 1919 in Stigler, OK, the daughter of Raymond Walter and Robbie Folsom Garland. Doris married John D. Holley of Stigler, OK on June 15, 1939. They had two children, Larry Ray and Judy Kay. The family lived in Antlers, Coalgate, Idabel and Durant before returning for good to Idabel.

Doris was a talented teacher who remembered her students and enjoyed reminiscing with them when they would meet in later years where her husband, John D. rose to Vice President of Idabel National Bank.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John D. in 1983, her daughter, Judy Kay of Greeley in March of 2017 and her son, Larry Ray of Allen, TX in August of 2017; and a sister, Dorothy Marie Vaughn of Greely.

She leaves behind her son-in-law, Tim Karpowich of Greely , CO; daughter-in-law, Lorna Holley of Allen, TX; granddaughter, Robyn Michelle Holley currently of London, England; granddaughter, Vonda Sebesta of Spicewood, TX; grandson, John Austin Holley and wife, Christina of Millersville, MD; great-grandson, Liam Yates Holley; a brother, Dennis Owen Garland of Sun City, AZ; other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the Denison Cemetery with Rev. Mark Polson officiating.
