Dr Sherman Hadley Obituary

Dr. Sherman Hadley, 61, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Idabel, OK. He was born on December 22, 1964, in Vallejo, CA. Sherman married his wife April on December 12, 2012, at Panki Bok, OK.

Sherman was the valedictorian and a 1983 graduate of Eagletown High School. A star basketball player for the Eagles, he held a longtime record for free throw percentage at 98%. Sherman went on to attend Oklahoma State University where he graduated with honors and a Doctorate of Veterinarian Medicine in 1990.

Sherman purchased the Idabel Veterinarian Clinic in 1993. He had a passion for animals and taking care of them for the people that loved them. Sherman became like family to his clients because of the care and compassion he had for them.

He was an active member of the Idabel Lions Club earning 1994 Lion of the year as well as a Melvin Jones Award. Sherman was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing and sometimes tournament fishing. He was affiliated with the Redland Church of Christ and had lived in McCurtain County since 1976.    

He was preceded in death by his father Stephen Grant Hadley; maternal grandparents, Harvey and Christine Wylie; and his paternal grandparents, Warland and Norma Lee Hadley.

Sherman is survived by his wife, April Hadley of the home; mother, Shirley Lawler of Eagletown, OK; son, Blake Hadley and Eva of Talihina, OK; a daughter, Kaytlin Hadley and Omar Colunga of Dallas, TX; brother, Sheldon Hadley and TaMara of Hope, AR; step-daughters, Carissa Snow Clayton and Tucson of Brashear , TX and Alissa Summer Pond of Idabel, OK; grandchildren, Trace Kight, Ellori Kight, Brystlee Hadley, Edgel Hadley, Braven Hadley, Elena Colunga, Vivian Colunga, Roman Colunga and Acelyn Burris; mother-in-law, Rita Ward and her husband, Sam of Cerrogordo, AR; several nieces, nephews, other relatives along with many beloved customers and their animals.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the White Family Chapel in Idabel, OK with Dick Pogue officiating. Interment will follow at the Philadelphia Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the funeral home.
