Edward A. Maddox, age 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 in Bonham, TX. Born on September 10, 1931, he was the son of Horace and Florence Maddox.
Proudly serving in the United States Air Force from January 1951 to January 1955, Ed was stationed in France during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge. His service to his country was a point of pride throughout his life.
Ed moved to Idabel, OK from Ft. Worth, TX in 1961. He enjoyed a successful career as a parts manager at James Hodge Ford for many years, but he was perhaps best known in McCurtain County as “the” Electrolux vacuum cleaner salesman, a role that brought him joy and many friendships in the community.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mozelle Maddox; his parents, Horace and Florence Maddox; and his sister, Sarah Wiechman.
Ed is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Brian Kruse of Detroit, TX; granddaughter, Sierra and her husband Alan Shrum of Blossom, TX; and their daughter, Athena Rhea Shrum; grandson Taiwa Kruse of Detroit, TX; as well as his niece, Saundra and her husband Parker Russell of Flower Mound, TX; nephew Ronny and his wife Shelia Callaway of Flower Mound, TX; numerous cousins, friends, and his cherished church family at Novice Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Novice Baptist Church, Novice, TX. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:30 am prior to the service. Interment with military honors to follow at the Ft. Towson Cemetery.
