Ellen R (Rone) Pearson

Ellen R. Pearson born to James Fredrick and Minnie Camille Bond Rone on September 6, 1916 in Ethel, MS. She passed away on February 24, 2022 in Broken Bow, OK. She was born in Ethel, MS and moved in the winter of 1921 to Shults, OK. She then lived in Forest Grove for two to three years and moved to Smithville, OK in approximately 1925 where she attended Folsom Training School in the Smithville area. She married Frank Pearson on May 1, 1949 in Buckner, AR who preceded her in death on February 19, 1956.

Ms. Ellen was Miss Centennial for Idabel, OK in 2002. A very successful business woman, having a Beauty Shop and then a large Gift Store for years in the Jumper Shopping Center. Later she became known as “The Bread Lady” making sourdough bread, which she sold and gave to bereaved families and others in need.

She was active in the First United Methodist Church for many years, until she could not attend due to her health. Ms. Ellen always had a smile for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jesse Rone, Donald Rone, Gordon Rone, Allen Rone, Hugh Rone, Nash Rone and John Rone; sisters, Laura Rone Hendricks, Laverne Rone Van Dyke, Mildred Rone Martin and Marie Rone; nieces and nephews, Flint Hendricks, Mike Hendricks, Stephen Rone, Myra Hebert and Butch Martin.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews; Luella Riessland, Susan Riley, Paul T. VanDyke, Clifford, Aretta and Fredrick Rone, Camilla Riley, Myrna Brooks, Eleanor Jones, Nancy Johnson, Linda Haddon, Connie Sanders; a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends along with she was Godmother to Brad and Edgar Ramsey and all were loved by Aunt Ellen.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Idabel, OK, with Rev. Mark Polson officiating. Interment will follow at the Denison Cemetery. Online condolences can be shared with the family at www.whitefamilyfh.com
