Elmer Lee Roberts

Elmer Lee Roberts passed away at his home in Durant, OK at the age of 86 years 3 months and 12 days. He was born on April 8, 1937 in Albion, TX, the youngest of fifteen children to Elmer John Green Roberts and Tabitha Alice (Mitchell) Roberts. Elmer married Betty Ruth (Bean) Roberts on November 17, 1956 in Hugo, OK and they shared sixty-six years together.

He enjoyed taking his family to Church on Sunday followed by a leisurely drive to almost anywhere. Elmer loved traveling and made many memories on family vacations all over the United States.

He was taught to work at a very young age. Elmer was an accomplished carpenter and well known for the beautiful cabinets he built. He later went on to operate several small businesses including his favorite Roberts Carpet, a carpet store in Idabel in which he invested countless hours providing top notch service to his customers.    

Elmer never met a stranger and could talk and sometimes argue with anyone. He loved his family and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. Elmer will be greatly missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents; fourteen brothers and sisters; several nieces and nephews.

Elmer is survived by his loving wife, Betty of the home; daughters, Helen Lowrance and Bruce of Idabel, OK, Sandra Weaver of Durant, OK; son, Dennis Roberts and Pam of Cudjoe Key, FL; grandchildren, Letisha Henderson and Travis of Vinita, OK, Shauna Bennett and Travis of Ada, OK, Kara Doyle and Brian of Caddo, OK, Bethany Bassett and Derek of Vinita, OK, Dustin Roberts and Lindsay of Durant, OK, Jennifer Roberts of Cudjoe Key, FL, Riley Williams and Ryan of Calera, OK; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at the White Family Chapel with Pastor Vowell Posey officiating. Interment will follow at the Watson Memorial Cemetery at Oak Hill.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023 at the funeral home.
