Faith Lajean Murphy

Faith Lajean Murphy, age 56 passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at her home in Idabel, OK. She was born on September 24, 1964 in San Antonio, TX, the daughter of Gene and Ferne Yokem Smith. Faith married Michael Murphy in Idabel, OK on August 17, 1984.

Faith was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed traveling the Western United States with her husband and family. Faith was a long-time faithful member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. She was very active in the Church serving as Sunday School and Bible School Teacher, organist and also sang in the choir.

 Faith was a devoted wife, mother and sister. She loved her family passionately and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents, Aubrey and Mary Yokem and paternal grandparents, John and Rosie Smith.

Faith is survived by her husband of 36 years, Michael Murphy of the home; her son, Michael J. Murphy of Idabel, OK; her daughter, Shanda and Greg Matthews of Crestview, FL; granddaughter, Riley Matthews of Crestview, FL; sisters; Jan Smith of Benton, AR and Wandalea Frost and Jon of Idabel, OK; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dayla Cox of Idabel, OK; Tanya Drobil and Frank of Idabel, OK; special friends, Don and Paula Britton of Idabel, OK and Randy Taylor of Norman, OK; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Idabel, OK with Bro Jason Clark and Mike Durham officiating. Interment will follow at the Wheelock Cemetery in Millerton, OK. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, August 2, 2021 at the funeral home
