Geraldine (Crowell) Bates

Geraldine Bates, age 85, of the Goodwater Community, OK passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Broken Bow, OK. She was born June 24, 1939 in Little River County, AR, the daughter of Silas Randolph Crowell and Anna Elizabeth Brown Crowell. Geraldine was a 1957 graduate of Idabel Gray High School. She married Donald Bates in Idabel, OK on June 1, 1957.

Geraldine was a homemaker. She was a talented seamstress and loved to deer hunt with her husband. She enjoyed working puzzles and visiting with people. Geraldine was a member of the Redland Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School while she was able to.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Ailean Harris, Betty Haughney, Jean Monday and Mary Mills.

Geraldine leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Donald Bates of the Goodwater Community, OK; daughter, Suzanne Bates of Broken Bow, OK; son, Donnie Bates and Noma of Littleton, CO; granddaughter, Jessica Bates of Littleton, CO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the Redland Church of Christ with Michael Cox and Corey Green officiating. Interment will follow at the Philadelphia Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 26, 2024 at the funeral home.
