Harmon David Townsend

Harmon Townsend, age 83 of Idabel, OK passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Idabel. He was born August 1, 1939 in Corrine, OK, the son of LP "Bill" Townsend and Vallie Stephens Townsend

Harmon was a veteran of the US Navy. He later attended barber school and lived in FT Cobb, OK where he was a barber for over 20 years. He moved back to the Idabel area in the late 80's and began helping his brother-in-law at Smokes Smoker. Harmon enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing dominos. He was an avid football fan and was a Christian.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Townsend; a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Smoke Bonnett.; step-father, OC "Doc" Hicks; his best friend, Dean Justus; and a special cousin, Allen Scarborough. 

Harmon is survived by his sisters, Josephine Payne-Rhea of Idabel and Pamela Sander and Randy of Broken Bow, OK; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel, OK with Bro. John Franks officiating. Entombment will follow at the Denison Cemetery.
