James "Rozy" Rozzell Obituary

James “Rozy” Rozzell, age 78, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Idabel, OK. He was born on April 10, 1945, in Coffeyville, Kansas, the son of Wheeler and Deloris Rozzell.

After graduating from Nowata High School, in Nowata, Oklahoma, Rozy joined the Oklahoma National Guard and progressed to the rank of Sergeant. He married Sandra on April 8, 1966, in Nowata. After moving to Idabel, he went to work at Weyerhauser until his retirement.

Rozy loved being active in Freemasonry, woodworking in his garage, watching John Wayne movies and old westerns. He enjoyed collecting pocket knives and coins.

He was funny, a jokester, a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was so very generous with his time and resources. Even in his last few months, he was making new friends and entertaining the nurses at the retirement home. Everyone who knew him even for a short amount of time loved him and will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wheeler and Deloris Rozzell.

Rozy is survived by his wife, Sandra Rozzell (Bates) of Idabel; daughter, Carissa Hairrell (Rozzell) and son-in-law, Jayson Hairrell of Paris, Texas; sisters, Janie Lilburn (Rozzell) of San Diego and Linda Walkingstick (Rozzell) of Broken Arrow, OK; brothers-in-law, Mike Lilburn and Johnny Walkingstick; several nieces, one nephew, other relatives and many friends.
