Jasper "Bull" Voss, Jr. Obituary

Jasper “Bull” James Voss, Jr., age 81 passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Medical City Plano in Plano, TX. He was born on August 24, 1943 in Billingsley Corner, AR, the son of Jasper Voss, Sr. and Mina Lee (Sanders) Voss.

Starting his truck driving career at the age of seventeen, Jasper hauled timber products from the flatlands of Arkansas to the grand mountains of Wyoming. He was never deterred by the product or the size of his load, moving heavy equipment from mountainous regions that no one else would attempt. One of his greatest treasures was being able to pass his legacy not only to his sons, but to his grandsons, as well.

Jasper never met a stranger and would talk to anyone who came along. He spent many hours volunteering at the Hand to Hand Food Bank in Haworth. Jasper was a member of the Stateline Baptist Church, where he served as the Sunday School Director. He cherished the moments when he could bless the food at home and church gatherings.

Jasper was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. But if you would have asked him his absolute thing to do and favorite place to go, it would undoubtedly be Catfish King, where he could indulge in good food and good company.

Jasper’s greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandra Taylor; grandson, Derek Taylor; granddaughter, Lindsay Collins; great-granddaughter, Reagan Bush; brothers, Marvin Voss, Lonnie Voss; brother-in-law, Joe Collins; daughter-in-law, Lisa Lansdell Voss; sister-in-law, Linda Whitlow; mother of his children, Shirley Burnett.

Jasper leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lila Pierce Voss of the home; sons, Steve Voss and Brenda of Alleene, AR, James Voss and Tedda of Goodwater Community, OK; daughters, Lisa Pruitt and Phillip of Texarkana, AR, Pam Hill and Bobby of Goodwater Community, OK, Mary Allen and Dusty of Council Hill, OK, Joanna Horn and Jay of Goodwater Community, OK; special daughter, Tonia Henson of Goodwater Community, OK and her children, Jared, Jayden and Nick; special son, Kevin Carden; grandchildren, Camille, Koby, Kory, Jade, Jensen, Jacob, Luke, Kristen, Steven, Nathan, Abby, Bryce, Jayci, Elizabeth, Hannah, Lily; special grandson, Hilton Mendoza; special granddaughter, Rilee Mergal; seventeen great-grandchildren nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 28, 2025 at the funeral home.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Philadelphia Cemetery with Bro. Dean Jones officiating.
