John Wayne Pinckard was born on January 14, 1946 to Wayne and Lena Pinckard and passed away on June 18, 2026 in Idabel, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Lois.
John Wayne is survived by his sons: John Wayne Pinckard, Jr. and wife Shauna of Pueblo, Colorado and Chance Lee of Georgia; granddaughter, Elana Fulton and husband Jake of Nebraska; grandson, Ethan W. Pinckard and wife Maria of Colorado; great-grandsons, Gene Wayne and Landon of Colorado; sister, Nancy Rough of Idabel, OK; brother, William (Billy) of Valliant; best friend, Karen Barr Pickens; niece, Sarah Griffin Weatherford of Idabel, OK; great-niece, Braelyn Weatherford of Idabel, OK; great-nephew, Hunter Weatherford of Idabel; numerous relatives and friends that will miss John Wayne.
John Wayne loved his country. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his time in Vietnam, he went on to become a recruiter for the Army. At times John Wayne would talk for hours about his experience while in the Army. He retired from the military. He owned and operated Horsehead Saddle and Jack. John Wayne loved going to the casinos and playing the machines for hours and even days. John Wayne could always be seen with heavily starched pants and shirt and a black stiff cowboy hat.
John Wayne will be so missed by all that knew him.
A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026 beginning at 3:00 pm at the Cypress Camp Ground in Beavers Bend State Park.
