Obituary

Johnnie Mae Wallace, age 94, went home to be with the Lord on July 9, 2023. She was born on August 6, 1928 in Waters, Arkansas to John and Nettie Goodner Maddox.

She was a graduate of Oden High School, Arkansas. Johnnie and Albert Wallace were married October 14, 1947 in Ft. Worth, TX. They moved to Idabel in 1955 and owned Wallace Army Store in Idabel and Broken Bow. In retirement, she and Albert started a dog grooming shop at their home. She was a member of the McCurtain Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary for more than twenty years and instrumental in starting the gift shop.

Johnnie was an active member of First Baptist Church of Idabel and especially enjoyed attending Sunday School.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert Glenn Wallace; stepfather, John Hicks; siblings, Uel Clift and John, Mildred Goodman and Jack; Dail Maddox and Ethel; four stepbrothers; one stepsister and one nephew and one niece, Wanda Clift.


Johnnie is survived by her son, Glenn Wallace and Traci; grandchildren, James “Jimbo” and Amber, Brandon Wilkerson and Tonya, Dustin “Dusty” Wilkerson, Britni Adams and Levi; great-grandchildren, David, Megan, Riley, Kylan, Kayle; nieces, Jan Clift, Sandra Smith; nephews, Bill Clift and Ruby, Dwight Clift and Ruth, Gary Maddox and Marsha, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Idabel, OK with Pastor Jon Hicks officiating. Interment will follow at the Denison Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Home for Girls, 13976 Anthony Lane, Madill, OK 73446.
