Joy Helen (Sweeden) Johnson

Joy Johnson, age 86 of Idabel, OK  passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Idabel. She was born on February 28, 1936 in Broken Bow, OK, the daughter of Henry and Laverne Bray Sweeden.

Joy was a sales clerk for several different retail stores over the years including West Dept. Store, Sharpes and S&H Dept. Store. She enjoyed meeting people at work and made many great friends over the years.

Joy was a member of the Bypass Church of Christ and especially enjoyed her share group. She loved her family and her church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, HR Johnson.

Joy is survived by her sons, Bruce and Pam Johnson of the Iron Stob Community and Harry Johnson of Idabel; grandchildren, Shelli (Corey) Mullins of Raleigh, MS, Kristen (Shane) Boudle of Rowlett, TX, Kyle (Krystal) Johnson of Dayton, TX, Lee (Ashley) Ellis of Blanchard, OK, Chad (Ashley) Johnson of Purcell, OK, Stacie (Colton) Clark of Garvin, OK, Jason Mathews and Ricky O'Hare both of Oklahoma City, OK; a sister-in-law, Judy Sweeden of Denison, TX; 17 great-grandchildren;  several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the Bypass Church of Christ with Rodney Watson and Jerry Falling officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the funeral home.
