Judy Marnel (Thompson) Coffman, a lifelong Idabel Warrior, beloved mother, grandmother, and dedicated community member, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the age of 82 surrounded by family. She was a long-time resident of Idabel, Oklahoma, where she touched the lives of many with her kindness, love, and unwavering dedication to feeding the children of Warrior Nation.
Judy was the proud mother of Laelia, George, Marlin, and Joy, and she found great joy in raising her children in the community she cherished so much. As the Child Nutrition Director at Idabel Public Schools, Judy’s commitment to the well-being of children was evident every day. She worked tirelessly to ensure that every student received a nutritious meal, often going above and beyond to make sure each child was well-fed, cared for, and knew they were important. Her love for children was limitless, and her work in the school system was a true reflection of her heart.
Judy was born to Mabel Estel Batchelor and Marlin Kenneth Thompson and grew up with a strong foundation of love and support from her parents. She carried the values of kindness, responsibility, and hard work with her throughout her life, values she passed on to her children and those she encountered throughout her career.
Judy’s presence in Idabel was a constant, her warmth and generosity of spirit touched everyone who knew her. She will be remembered not only for her work but for her deep love for her family, her community, and, most of all, the children she cared for so dearly.
She is survived by her children, Laelia Coffman of Idabel, Ok., George Coffman of Marlow, Ok., Marlin Coffman of Ardmore, Ok, and Joy Forshee of Idabel, Ok., along with numerous grandchildren, relatives, and friends who will forever miss her. Judy’s legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
