Larry C. Shaffer, age 80, of Idabel, OK, entered his Heavenly home on May 31, 2023. He was born the son of Cleo and Florence Shaffer on June 26, 1942 in Idabel, Oklahoma.
Larry graduated from Idabel Gray High School in 1960. He went to college at OSU and graduated in 1965. He had an Engineering degree and a B.A. in Education. Larry served in the U.S. Army and The U.S. Air Force. He joined the Army in 1964 and was enlisted until 1966. Larry spent 10 years as the banker and president of 1st State Bank of Idabel, OK. He served as the president of 1st National Bank in Wright City, OK and Idabel National Bank in Idabel, OK. He retired from his banking career in 1998. Larry made many friends throughout those years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Idabel, OK. Larry was also a member of the Idabel Masonic Lodge #264, O.E.S, Chapter 202.
Larry loved to deer and quail hunt. He enjoyed trail riding and running his dogs. He had a great love for horses and fast cars. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded by his parents; sister, Ann and husband Stanley Lentz.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Jennifer Shaffer of the home; one daughter; one son; nephew, Stuart Lentz and wife Brandi of Dallas, TX.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 5, 2023 from 6-8 pm in the White Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 2 pm at First Baptist church in Idabel, OK with Bro. Bob O’Neal and Bro. John Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Denison Cemetery in Idabel, OK.
