Larry D Turnage

Larry Don Turnage, 75, of the Shultz community, Idabel, OK passed away July 11, 2025 at Paris Tx.  Born in the Pollard Community on November 14, 1949 to Emmit and Jewel Rolen Turnage. Larry graduated from Idabel Gray High school in '68 & attended EOSC in Wilburton, Ok and ETSU in Commerce, Tx majoring in Agriculture Education. He married Janell Hamil in July 1969.

He was an ambitious, hard worker and held many different jobs over the years, mostly an OTR truck driver. He owned several businesses in McCurtain County over the years as well. He established Turnage Backhoe in '92 and operated it with his son.

Larry loved to talk and visit with family and friends at reunions, The Music Hall, cookouts and especially the annual Turnage family reunion every year, where he was the Auctioneer for many years. Larry was a lifelong deer hunter, loved classic cars, vacations, tending his chickens, watching John Wayne westerns and his dog, Rocksy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his children, Teresa Davis of Haworth, and Shannon Turnage of Goodwater. Grandchildren; Taylor Friend and Aaron Davis. Great Grandchildren; Peyton Friend & Emma Friend. Mother of his children, Janell Hamil. Brother Danny Turnage of Idabel, Son in law Mack Davis, Grandson-in-law Justin Friend and other relatives & friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at White Family Funeral Chapel with Pastor Virgil Owen officiating. Interment will follow at Canfield Cemetery, Idabel, OK
