Lisa Short-Mecoyan Obituary

Rhonda Elisa “Lisa” Short Mecoyan, 63 of Idabel completed her journey here on earth and entered the portals to heaven Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Idabel.

Lisa’s sojourn here on earth began in Opp, Alabama March 12, 1957. The daughter of Jo Hayes Short, and Ronald E. Short of Idabel, Ok. Her childhood was experienced in Alabama, later her family moving to Idabel, Okla. in 1968. She graduated from Gray High School, in Idabel. She worked as X Ray-technician at McCurtain Memorial Hospital. She married Verag Mecoyan and moved to MidWest City, Ok. Where she attended Rose State College. She gave birth to one son, Joseph Sevan Mecoyan, who presently is employed as Medical Laboratory Technician, Choctaw Memorial Hospital, in Hugo Okla. She later returned to Idabel to complete her journey.

Lisa spent a great deal of time as a student of the Bible, praying as a life style, and practicing what she learned. She had a giving spirit and was mission minded having been instrumental in conversions and spiritual encouragement of many. Lisa played the piano in the early ministry of her father and later played for Sunday services in Memorial Heights Nursing Home. She was an avid reader and history buff, and knowledgeable in current events. In latter times she faced many health problems, but Jesus was always in the forefront and even in challenging times was an encourager of others. During her time in the nursing home she and her dad played chess and she developed into more than average opponent.

She considered her prime mission in life was to raise her son to be Christ like in word and deed.

Lisa was preceded in death by mother Jo Hayes Short. And grandparents, Burvey and Rosa Bell Hayes of Oneonta and Howard and Lola Mae Short of Gadsden, Alabama.
