Louis Clark Obituary

Louis Clark, age 87, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at the VA Hospital in Muskogee, OK. He was born March 9, 1934 in Lawton, OK, the son of Clifford and Juanita Terasez Clark. Louis was a proud member of the Comanche Nation and was a great-grandson of both Quanah Parker and Chief Tenbears.

Louis retired from the US Marine Corps after serving from June 3, 1954 to September 30, 1974 earning the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. GySgt Clark served two tours in Vietnam from 1966-67 at DaNang and from 1970-71 at Marble Mountain. He was a .50 Cal Window Gunner on a CH-46 Transport Helicopter in which he was credited with 168 Combat Missions. Among GySgt Clark’s awards were the Combat Action Ribbon, Air Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation.

After retiring from the Marines Louis relocated to the Haworth area where he would raise his family. Louis was a talented mechanic and would work on his son’s cars. He was a handyman and could fix or build just about anything. Louis was a dedicated fan of the Haworth Lions and very rarely missed a basketball game. He was a longtime member of the Kulli Tuklo Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lenora Clark; sons, Darrell Clark and Lindsey Clark; a brother, Jon Clark; and sisters, Mary Clark and Honey Clark

Louis is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Gina Clark of the Pollard Community, OK, Michael and Roxanne Clark of the Redland Community, OK, Alan Clark of McAlester, OK and Harrell and Faith Clark of Shawnee, OK; grandchildren; Clayton Clark, Kristie Smead and Ashlyn Clark whom he raised; brothers, Benjamin Clark, Mark Clark, Clifford Clark and Edward Clark; sisters, Wanda Ann Earl, Geneva Bishop and Elsie Gale Sanford; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jackie and Arlie Marris to whom he was particularly close; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services with military honors will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the White Family Chapel with Victor Balagbagan officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the funeral home.
