Martin "Marty" Lynn Vaughn

Martin Lynn Vaughn passed from this life on Monday, May 16, 2022, age 78 in his home in Idabel, OK. “Marty” was born July 21, 1943 in Warren, Arkansas, to Teddy Erby and Mattie Mae Vaughn.

Martin was preceded in death by his parents Teddy and Mattie Vaughn; his brothers, Paul Kelly Vaughn and Erby Edward Vaughn; sisters, Helen Davis, Hazel Maddox and Minnie Cantrell. Marty and Kay also lost their youngest of three sons, Martin Chadwick “Chad” Vaughn.

Marty married the love of his life August 2, 1967. They made their home in Channelview, TX where he worked at Southerland Paper Mill. Marty and Kay had their first of three sons Teddy Lynn Vaughn, November 6, 1968, their second son Paul Kelly Vaughn was born September 21, 1970 just before they moved to Valliant where Marty would work for Weyerhaeuser Paper Company. Kay gave birth to their third son, Martin Chadwick “Chad” Vaughn on September 12, 1973. Marty worked at Weyerhaeuser for 33 years.

After Marty’s retirement in 2003, he and Kay moved to Taledo Bend Lake in Milam, TX. Marty loved to fish and he loved the outdoors. He liked old cars and he loved his motorcycles. He was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Milam, TX, the Masons and the Eastern Star.

Marty and Kay returned to McCurtain County after seven years in Texas. They have made their home in Idabel since that time.

Marty is survived by his wife, Kay, of almost 55 years; son Ted and wife Toy Vaughn of Valliant, OK, son, Paul Vaughn of Valliant, OK; grandson, Brantley Vaughn and Allison of Ada, OK, grandson, Dustie Vaughn of Valliant, OK; granddaughter, Nikki and husband Jason Breshears of Garvin, OK, granddaughter, Emilee Wicker and Ricky, grandson, Jared Wicker; six great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Family visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at White Family Chapel.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Denison Cemetery in Idabel, OK under the direction of White Family Funeral Home.
