Nona Faye Cowell, 88, of the Forest Grove Community entered her heavenly home on February 2, 2022.
The daughter of George Washington and Zadie (Simmons) Sharp, Nona was born on April 5, 1933 in Garvin, Oklahoma. Nona was a 1952 graduate of Gray High School in Idabel, Oklahoma. After graduating, Nona married the love of her life, Dean Cowell on July 5, 1953 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After Dean and Nona married, they began their life and family in the Oklahoma City area. Nona adored her family and loved them with all her heart. She taught them to love the Lord and to know the difference between right and wrong. Nona enjoyed square dancing, quilting, crocheting and shopping. She will be greatly missed by her family, especially her boys!
Waiting for Nona in heaven were her parents; one son, Jimmy Cowell; one brother, Claud Sharp; two sisters, Cassie Sharp and Louise Coppock; two step great-grandchildren.
Nona leaves to cherish her life, her husband of 68 years, Dean Cowell; two sons, Randy Cowell and his wife, Liz, of Jenks, OK, Jason Cowell of Idabel, OK; two grandsons, Marc Cowell and his wife, Andrea, of Amber, OK, their children, Erin, Caylin, Caden and Kyah; one great-great-grandchild, Leo; Matt Cowell of Amber, OK; step-grandchildren, David Paul Nelson of Idabel, OK, Kim Lewis and her husband, Steve, of Fate, TX, Julie Wortham and her husband, Willie, of Jenks, OK, Sandy Powers and her husband, Chris, of Jenks, OK; thirteen step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Cowell of Idabel, OK, Georgia Young of Paris, TX; special nieces and nephews, Janet McCoy, Don and Tonya Sharp, Sherry and Wayne Williamson, Debra Undjem; many other nieces, nephews and family members.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Valliant, OK with Bro. Mike Mings officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, February 7, 2022 at the funeral home.
