Norman Eugene Ludlow

Norman Eugene Ludlow, age 92, passed from this life on July 3, 2026, at his home in Smithville surrounded by his family. He was born on March 3, 1934, to Dixon and Evelyn (Johnson) Ludlow in Smithville, OK. He married Opal Wilson on February 6, 1960 and they were united in love for 66 years.

Norman enlisted when he was 17 years old and proudly served his country in the United Stated Army for 3 years where he was stationed in Europe during the Korean war. His introduction to travel lead to a lifetime of adventures. After marrying Opal they moved to California where Norman worked his way up to being a warehouse manager. Throughout his time in California he took road trips back to Oklahoma every year seeing numerous sights along the way. As a member of the Choctaw Nation, he embraced his heritage, allowing it to shape his identity and community involvement. His drive to travel did not end when he retired and returned to Smithville. One of Norman’s greatest joys came from the numerous trips he took with the Choctaw Senior Citizens. He enjoyed the beauty of each adventure while surrounded by his many friends.

Norman was a passionate photographer who never went anywhere without his camera. He photographed his beloved family, wildlife, scenery and anything else imaginable. There’s not one family member who does not have a picture of them taking a bite of food.

He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Eugenia Trent, Jonathan Ludlow, Darren Ludlow; brothers, Owen Ray Ludlow and E.J. Ludlow.

Norman leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 66 years, Opal Ludlow of the home; his granddaughter, Jennifer Anderson and Tyler of Beaverton, OR; great-grandchildren, Hailey Anderson, Tate Anderson, Rhett Anderson; son-in-law, Darren Trent; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Graveside Services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the Choctaw Nation Veteran Cemetery in Tvshka Homma, OK

The family received friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 10, 2026 at the funeral home.
