Phil Houston

Phil Thomas Houston, age 86 longtime Idabel educator and football coach passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Tulsa, OK. He was born on March 19, 1939, the son of Daniel and Charlotte Houston. He married the love of his life, Kathy Miller on December 28, 1973 in Idabel, OK and they spent 51 years together.

Phil played college football for Paris Jr. College and at Tulsa, while at Paris Junior College he was named a Junior College All-American. He graduated from Southeastern and began a teaching and coaching career that lasted 34 years with stops at Idabel, Broken Bow and Erick. Phil was an avid reader and lived most of his life in McCurtain County.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Dan Houston and Lotte Houston; his sisters, Marion Phillips and Joan Venable.

Phil leaves to cherish his memory; his wife Kathy Houston of the home and brother, Walter Houston; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 3, 2025 at the White Family Chapel. Interment to follow at the Denison Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at the funeral home.
