Phyllis Demorrow Obituary

On October 24, 1934, Phyllis Jean DeMorrow was born in Marcellus, MI. She entered her heavenly home on December 11, 2020 at the age of 86 in Idabel.

Phyllis graduated from high school in Bristol, IN and attended music school in Chicago, IL. It was on November 1, 1953 in Bristol, IN that she married her high school sweetheart, Pete DeMorrow. She and Pete moved to Idabel from Winfield, IL in 1970 and quickly made it their home. Phyllis loved music and taught piano lessons for over 40 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Idabel where she sang in the choir and served as choir director for several years. Phyllis started the FUMC Bell Choir in the year 2000 and was the director for 14 years. She was involved in many activities in the community including volunteering and tutoring young students at the schools, girl scouts and the Arts and Humanities Council. Phyllis loved to play Bridge and Skipbo with her friends, but spent most of her time sewing and knitting. Phyllis loved reading, working crossword puzzles, early morning walks and cooking with her family and friends. Phyllis was a member of the Idabel Country Club and enjoyed water aerobics, traveling, going to the beach and watching dolphins. Most of all, she loved her family and the time she shared with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert L. and Vivian M. (Kramb) Moran; her beloved husband, Pete and two brothers, Richard and Robert.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Douglas DeMorrow and his wife, Wanda, of Arkadelphia, AR, Greg DeMorrow and his wife, Nancy, of Escanaba, MI, Barbara Valentine of Idabel and Cindy Haslam of Idabel; ten grandchildren, Andrew, Lyall, Elizabeth, Jessica, Katy, Hillary, Krissy, Becca, Phillip and Kim; nine great-grandchildren, Preston, Ashley, RosaLinda, Jason, Kyrian, Lena, Kristian, Naomi ,Taylor, Allyssa and Peyton; a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and lifelong friends.

The family will be receiving friends at the home of Phyllis.

A memorial service to honor the life of Phyllis will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church in Idabel with Rev. Mark Polson officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that a contribution be made to a charity of your choice concerning children.
