Ray Charles Anderson departed from labor to reward on June 30, 2020. He was born December 22, 1953 to Ed and Coran Anderson. He was a lifelong resident of Idabel, OK.
Ray accepted Christ as his Lord and personal Savior at an early age, and was baptized and became a member of the St Mark Missionary Baptist Church of Idabel, OK.
Ray received his formal education in Idabel, Oklahoma. He is a graduate of Gray High School. After graduating, Ray entered the US Navy in 1971. He served in the Vietnam era and received the National Defense Service Medal.
Following his military service, Ray returned to Idabel where he started his life with Vanessa Smith. Ray was a family man, who stood for what he believed in. He was often referred to as the pit-grill master. If he was not grilling he was busy keeping his yard and garden in immaculate condition.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Coran Anderson; siblings, Mary Washington, Edward Earl (Man) Anderson, and S.W Anderson.
Ray leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Vanessa Smith (Idabel, OK); Siblings, Bonnie M. Dillard (Idabel, OK) and Rev. Melvin Anderson (Idabel, OK) and a host of bonus children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Ray was beloved by many and will be greatly missed.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at the Williamston Cemetery
A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at the funeral home.
