Robert Lee Blocker, Age 89, was called to tend to the Lord’s cattle on June 24,2024, surrounded by his family at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.
Robert was born on Norwood Creek Homestead in Tom, Oklahoma on February 8, 1935, to Cynthia Blocker and Seth Madden. He lived a simple childhood and soon fell for his beautiful bride, Wanda Lee Chapman. They married on March 24, 1954, and welcomed their son Dennis Blocker and daughter Kay Nelson into their lives to make the start of their own family.
The family lived in Arizona for a time before moving back to start the family ranch. Robert was forever the hard worker, working a job with Weyerhaeuser and on the family farm. He began to grow the farm to a sizable ranch over time, becoming a great source of information for many in his family and surrounding friends. After his retirement from Weyerhaeuser, the ranch became his main pride and joy.
Whenever he got the chance, he would sneak off to hunt or fish. He loved to spend time with his hunting buddies discussing the latest hunting place or searching for the newest fishing hole. He could often be found around a campfire telling as many tall tales as possible.
Robert was also a Christian man, finding Jesus in his life. This was evident in his everyday life as he was always ready to help out where he could. He was a member of the Stateline Baptist Church.
He was proceeded in death by his Grandparents Joe and Rendy Blocker, mother, Cynthia and father, Seth and Ruth Madden, as well as his sisters Clovis Dillard and Mary Ruth Gibson.
Robert was blessed with a large family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 70 years, Wanda Blocker, son Dennis Blocker and wife Beth Blocker of Haworth, OK, daughter Kay Nelson and husband Tony Nelson of Valliant, OK, Grandchildren Amanda Morgan (Josh Morgan) of El Dorado, AR, Pate Nelson of Durant, OK and Kaylee Lawton (George Lawton) of Waxahachie, TX, and two great grand children, Myra Morgan and Erik Wintz. He also leaves behind three sisters, Virginia Cranford, Sethena English and Tommye Ford, along with many nieces and nephews. He also has a whole host of close friends and extended family that will continue to share his tall tales and adventures for many years to come.
Till we see you again, we got the hay put up and you can rest now.
