Lifetime McCurtain County resident, Robert “Bud” Hammonds, passed away on February 12, 2021 in Idabel, OK, at the age of 87.
The son of Robert R. and Dovie Beatrice (Saul) Hammonds, Bud was born on May 1, 1933 in Idabel, OK and lived his entire life in McCurtain County. He was a good ole country boy who enjoyed hunting (whatever his dogs would run), fishing and gardening. Bud was a bit of a homebody and loved his kids and grandkids dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evonne Hammonds; and one brother, Tilman Hammonds.
Bud was survived by the mother of his children; Linda Woods of Haworth, four children, Paul Hammonds of Haworth, Kathy Hammonds of Haworth, Jeanie McGrath and her husband, Kevin, of Southaven, MS, Robert Hammonds and his wife, Jamie, of Texarkana, AR; ten grandchildren, Emily, Amber and her husband, Dickie, Amanda, Daniel, Justin and his wife, Christian, Jacob, Jordan, Jacklyn, Mason and Micah; five siblings, Kathryn Gray, Earlene Gill, William Hammonds and his wife, Peggy, Richard Hammonds and his wife, Jeannie, all of Idabel, Mac Hammonds and his wife, Annice, of Sherman, TX; 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Family visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, February 19, 2021 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the White Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Jeter officiating. Interment will follow at Redland Cemetery.
