On January 14, 2021, Ruby Mae Pittman left her earthly home to join her husband in eternal life. Ruby was born on November 21, 1931, in Russett, Oklahoma, the daughter of Sadie and Oscar Wendt. She married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Robert Lee Pittman, on June 10, 1951, at Forest Hill Baptist Church in Idabel, OK. It is fitting that they rest together in the place where they started their amazing life together, as husband and wife.
Ruby was a woman of many talents. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to sew, and through the years dressed her children and her grandchildren in her creations. She loved to quilt and spent hours of time creating special quilts that now fill the closets of those she left behind. She loved to garden, and along with Robert, created the most beautiful park-like yard. Some of their flowers now grow in all of our gardens. She loved to draw and paint, and now our walls are filled with her painting of the things she loved. But above all else, Ruby loved her family and raised us to care about each other and stay close. She loved big family gatherings and the noise and laughter that came with them. When dinner was served and Ruby was asked what she wanted, she always gave her usual reply of, “I’ll have a little bit of everything.” It became a standard family joke at our gatherings. She loved to sing and she was a religious and kind person. Her life served as an example for her children and became the guide for how we raised our children. She was an eternally positive and happy person, and her constant smile and contagious laugh made you happy just being around her. She will be missed, but we comfort ourselves in knowing that she loved us with all her heart and we loved her back.
Ruby is survived by her sister, Lois Brownlee; children and their spouses, Linda and Gerry Hendrix, Judy Thompson, Robert and Booey Pittman, and Sherry and Randy Nix; grandchildren and their spouses, Tony and Laura Hendrix, Traci and Mike Mosura, Robert and Amanda Pittman, Evelyn and Chris Alvarez, and Wade and Brittany Nix; great-grandchildren, Melanie Peterson, Katie Hendrix, Molly Ellis, Mallory Hendrix, Max Ellis, Casey Pittman, Sophie Hendrix, Chloe Thompson, and Josilyn Dalrymple; great-great grandsons, Easton Coatney, Dayton Thompson, and Mason Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Pittman, her parents, Sadie and Oscar Wendt, her brother, Louis Wendt, and her granddaughter, Wendy Thompson.
