Shane Short went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the age of 61. He was born on February 21, 1965, the son of Bonnie Jo Hayes Short and Ronald Eston Short in Alabaster, Alabama.
He was a graduate of Broken Bow High School, and continued his education at Southeastern State University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. He was a police officer with Broken Bow Police Department and then worked in the prison systems in Beeville, Tx and later at Telford in New Boston Tx.
Shane loved aggravating his nephew Brian with the help of Ricky and an Indian Bust named Ingen Joe. He loved scaring him and it was a joke between him and the boys for many years.
He loved lifting weights, sporty cars, his dog named Suki, and of course his parrots Frosty, Jamie, and Janie.
He attended The Church of Southeast Oklahoma in Garvin, Ok. In his teens he traveled on mission trips with his dad to Pueto Rico and oversaw the tape ministry there. He would take orders to produce cassette tapes and make sure they were available to the people.
Shane was preceded in home coming by his mother Jo and father Ron; sister, Lisa Mecoyan; maternal grandparents, Rosa Swan Hayes and Burvy Hayes; paternal grandparents, Loa Mae Thrasher Short and Howard Short.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, brother Rick Robinette, wife Paula Gilly Robinette; nephews, Ricky Robinette, wife dawn Stafford Robinette, Brian Robinette, wife Jenifer Ogden, Sevan Mecoyan, wife Chelsea De Guia Mecoyan; great nephews, are Shane Robinette, Taylor Robinette, Tracer Ogden; great nieces, Kaitlyn Alexander, husband Jarred, Bailey Sory , husband Zach; special family member Bobby Burton; his Church family and all of the staff at Memorial Heights Nursing Home.
Shane will be missed by all, but we know he is home and that is where we all strive to be.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at the Denison Cemetery with Bro Ricky Pierce and Bro. Rick Robinette officiating.
