Steven Holmes

Steven George Ray Holmes, born June 7, 1974, in Idabel, Oklahoma, passed away on February 14, 2026, in his hometown of Idabel. He was 51 years old.

A proud lifelong resident of Idabel, Steven graduated from Idabel High School in 1993. After graduation, he joined his father working on the road for Utility Service Maintenance. Their shared time on the job created lasting memories and a deep connection built through hard work and dedication.

Steven’s roots ran deep in McCurtain County, where he remained closely tied to the community throughout his life. His relationships with family and friends were central to his journey and brought meaning to his days.

He was a devoted father to four children: Steven Craig Ray Holmes, Kacie Louise Holmes, Kyle Ray Holmes, and Taylor (Holmes) Choate. He is also remembered by his brothers Matthew Holmes and wife Amanda, and Dustin Huggins Holmes and wife Sabrina. His nieces and nephews – Gavin, Harlee, Tyce, Colton Creek, and Asa Ray Holmes – held a special place in his heart. Among those mourning his passing is his good friend Carrnell Cooper, along with many other cherished relatives and friends.

Steven was preceded in death by his mother Sharon “Kay” Frady Keeling; his father Steve Ray Holmes; paternal grandparents Roy Ray and Bonnie Holmes; maternal grandparents George and Eula Mae Smith Frady; and his sister Kaylynn Holmes.

A memorial service honoring Steven’s life will be held at a later date.
