Troy McCarrell Obituary

Idabel resident, Troy Dee McCarrell, 97, passed away on January 17, 2021 at McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, OK.

One of eleven children, Troy was born on March 2, 1923 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. He attended school in the Broken Bow area and moved to Los Angeles, California. Troy entered the US Navy in 1945 and received the Victory Medal during his service. He retired from Holly Sugar as an Industrial Electrician. He enjoyed camping, traveling, and dining out.

Troy was preceded in death by his parents, Simon Jasper McCarrell and Ina (Harraman) McCarrell; his wife, Florine McCarrell; two sisters, Lorene Lawless, Dessie McCarrell; seven brothers, Buel, Herbert, Onis, Mac, Artie, CB and Hoyt McCarrell.

He leaves to honor his life, one step son, Steve Simmons of Antlers, OK; one step daughter, Patty McCurry of Carthage, MO; one brother, Cleo McCarrell of Antlers, OK; grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held in California where he will be laid to rest by his beloved wife, Florine.
