Verna DeBerry

Verna Lee DeBerry, age 90 passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at her home in Idabel, OK. She was born on April 30, 1932 in Avery, TX, the daughter of Abern and Martha Morrison McCown. She married Bill DeBerry in Idabel on  August 30, 1980 and he preceded her in death.

Verna was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching and rock collecting. Verna was a member of the Central Baptist Church and a lifetime resident of the area.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, James, Joe and WC McCown; and sisters, Lona Yeargin, Minnie Walden and Martha Farley.

Verna is survived by her son, Robert Yates of Idabel, OK; daughters, Alice Smith of California, Jill Miller and Steve of Tulsa, OK, Sherri DeBerry of Ft Worth, TX and Susie DeBerry of Tulsa, OK; special cousins, Mike and Linda DeBerry of Idabel, OK; caregivers, Brenda, Pearlie, Althea and Jennifer; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at the Denison Cemetery with Rev Mark Jardine officiating.
