Virgil Lee Whitten Jr., age 76 passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025 at his home in Broken Bow, OK. He was born in Broken Bow, OK on May 3, 1949.
Virgil was an educated gambler who loved to highroll. Also a professional house mover. He loved to tell everyone Whitten's House Moving was established in 1928 by Willis Whitten, his great-uncle, and has been passed down through many generations.
Virgil never met a stranger and was well known for his generosity and caring heart. Virgil was a wealth of humor and fun. It was never a dull moment in his presence and there was always a joke to be told.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Lee Whitten Sr.; mother, Florence Burdick Whitten-Webb; and a brother, Lewis Whitten.
Virgil is survived by his son, Kenneth Whitten and wife, Penny of Garvin, OK; daughter Tera Whitten of Idabel, OK; grandchildren, Anthony Lumia and Ashley of Ellijoy, GA, Channing O'Dell of Idabel, OK; great-grandchildren, Shevy Lumia "Punkin" of Ellijay, GA, Maxx Lumia "favorite great-grandson" of Elliajay, GA and Aroura O'Dell of Omaha, NE; sister, Wanda Billingsley of Broken Bow, OK; special friend, Janet Cress; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 12, 2025 at the Holly Creek Cemetery.
